For a standard 8'x10' size, place the front legs of the furniture on the rug with the back legs off to create a good sense of proportion. \u003C/span>\r\n\r\n\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: opensans-regular; font-size: 14pt;\">If you have a \u003Cem>\u003Cstrong>large living room\u003C/strong>\u003C/em> with furniture in the center, the rug should be large enough so the furniture fits without looking crowded. When covering the whole room, choose a rug that's two feet shorter than the shortest wall. \u003Cem>\u003Cstrong>You'll also want to keep these tips in mind:\u003C/strong>\u003C/em>\u003C/span>\r\n\u003Cul>\r\n \t\u003Cli>\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: opensans-regular; font-size: 14pt;\">Use your rug to frame your seating area, with the front legs of sofas and chairs positioned on the rug.\u003C/span>\u003C/li>\r\n \t\u003Cli>\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: opensans-regular; font-size: 14pt;\">If you're placing a rug in your bedroom, \u003Cstrong>\u003Cem>the standard sizes are 8'x10' (queen)\u003C/em> or \u003Cem>9'x12' (king)\u003C/em>.\u003C/strong> Traditionally, the lengthier side of the rug should run centered on the bed from bedside table to bedside table with the shorter width of the rug starting in front of the bedside tables and running about 36\" off the end the bed.\u003C/span>\u003C/p>\r\n\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: opensans-regular; font-size: 14pt;\">\u003Cstrong>Also keep these useful tips in mind:\u003C/strong>\u003C/span>\r\n\u003Cul>\r\n \t\u003Cli>\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: opensans-regular; font-size: 14pt;\">If possible, both your bed and side tables should fit comfortably on your rug with about 28” of space on the front and sides.\u003C/span>\u003C/li>\r\n \t\u003Cli>\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: opensans-regular; font-size: 14pt;\">If your nightstands do not fit on your rug, start your rug in front of your nightstands or a third of the way down from your headboard.\u003C/span>\u003C/li>\r\n \t\u003Cli>\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: opensans-regular; font-size: 14pt;\">Allow enough to space to be able to fully walk on the rug in front of your bed; if you have a bed bench, allow the same amount of space in front of it.\u003C/span>\u003C/li>\r\n \t\u003Cli>\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: opensans-regular; font-size: 14pt;\">If you have a \u003Ca href=\"https://www.kathykuohome.com/Product/ProductList/benches/?utm_source=social&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=rugsize\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bench\u003C/a> at the end of your bed, you’ll want to pull the rug out to include the bench.
