Living In: Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent's Hollywood Home

Published
Ah, Nate Berkus. You always do it so good. Such is certainly this case with the home Nate decorated with his designer fiancé Jeremiah Brent. Featured in Harper's Bazaar last month, the home is a mix of black, white, saddle and bourbon - equal parts Mad Men and ultra modern, says the mag. And of course, who wouldn't want to mix up a few cocktails with the couple, who are a) beyond handsome and b) as charismatic as they come?

The Perfectly Laid-Back Living Room

While the entire home is utterly swoon-worthy, we couldn't help but pause at the laid-back living room, which offers panoramic views of the couple's garden, and features a stunning mix of iconic, classic pieces, with more affordable furniture choices (no surprise, really; Berkus has had an insanely successful partnership with big box retailer Target). A basket of flip-flops is positioned to encourage guests to lounge, whether by the pool or in the couple's oversized hammock. Meanwhile, items from Berkus' Target collection can be seen around the home (rugs from the collection, particularly, can be found in multiple rooms) - but they're mixed with covetable crush-worthy pieces such as a Pace Collection chair reupholstered in shearling, or a set of Knoll Bertoia wire chairs with alligator cushions (yes, alligator cushions) positioned by a saddle-colored Chesterfield sofa that can be found in the living room.

A Hollywood Regency Space

Says Harpers of the space: The first time interior designer Nate Berkus and his fiancé, Jeremiah Brent, walked through the black lacquered double doors of their Hollywood Hills home, Brent burst into tears. "When we first heard about the house, we were obsessed with the idea of it because of the architect," says Brent, an interior designer known for his role on The Rachel Zoe Project. The Hollywood Regency-style two-bedroom was designed in 1939 by John Elgin Woolf (who counted Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn among his marquee clients).

Berkus says he enjoyed the challenge of quirky original details like a green-and-black kitchen with a 1950s stove, marble-inlaid parquet floors, and a pool that seems to lap up against the living room's curved glass wall. "I would never pick those things, but I love living with them. I think our styles are now becoming one, which is really exciting to see," Berkus says. "We fight about pizza, not about picking out lamps."

"You don't need to spend a lot of money on stuff when you have amazing architecture."

A Serene Master Bedroom

"It's very surfy feeling," says Berkus. Even the black-painted master bedroom is the embodiment of serenity. "You wake up and feel like you're in a tree house."
